But travellers can avoid repaying the fee if they opt out of their membership and then return within 90 days of first signing up

The “Qantas Club Flexible” product will be available from Wednesday, July 10 — it provides access to up to 30 Qantas lounges in Australia and overseas.

However, one major difference to the traditional annual membership is you can’t bring in a guest.

While it’s pricier than a standard annual membership if kept for more than six months, it works out best for those who only travel sporadically.

The move comes as a response to customer feedback.

“We have been focused on listening and responding to customer feedback over the past 12 months, and we know our customers are looking for flexible options when it comes to lounge access,” a Qantas spokesperson said.

“Qantas Club Flexible gives customer the choice to enjoy the benefits of our Qantas lounges in a time frame that suits them – the perfect option for travellers who don’t fly every month.”

Basically, it gives customers flexibility and choice to enjoy access to Qantas lounges on an ad hoc basis, as an alternative option to the annual Qantas Club membership.

Customers can cancel the rolling membership up until three days prior to renewal with benefits remaining till the end of that cycle.

Access is both to Australia and overseas Qantas lounges. Other benefits include domestic on departure upgrade rewards, complimentary Qantas Frequent Flyer membership and three Qantas Points per dollar spent.

For customers who take out a Qantas Club Flexible membership and travel before March 31,

2025, they will receive a bonus benefit of additional checked baggage.

Meanwhile the airline’s new lounge in Hobart will have almost double the capacity, while its Adelaide lounge undergoes a major revamp to include a new Business lounge
