Yoga instructor slammed over shock act at national park

A woman has been blasted for posing at a delicate and protected rock face at a popular national park.

Yoga instructor's shocking act slammed

A yoga instructor who posed in a restricted area of a popular national park in the US has been slammed over the act.

The woman was seen performing risky poses on a fragile Zion National Park rock in Utah, after having hopped over a barrier that separates the walking path and the edge of the cliff to show off her yoga skills.

Footage of her shock act was shared to Tourons of National Parks Instagram, according to theDaily Mail. It’s a page dedicated to tourists doing questionable things at national parks.

The woman, who was barefoot wearing black shorts and a black crop, was seen balancing on one leg on the edge of the rock.

She used one hand to hold onto the rail for support, while the other was used to pull her right leg over her head.

“Crossing over a trail closed sign and on the edge North rim Grand Canyon. It might be worth clarifying that it was a group of young adults, this girl was doing yoga moves right before this,” a post on the Instagram page read.

“They were all there watching sunset, but obviously breaking rules. This was reported that people were crossing the ‘do not enter sign’.”

Many were quick to jump in the comments section to blast the tourist saying she “should be arrested and banned from posting at any national park”.

“How dangerous and misleading. There are rules for a reason. If someone falls others lives are in danger rescuing them,” one person wrote, according to the Daily Mail.

“I’m sick of these people who think the rules are not for them. They put others at risk of they need to be rescued. Lots of these morons end up dead from doing these stunts,” another furious viewer wrote.

“Park service needs to mega fine that foolish woman,” a third added.

According to the Zion National Park website, visitors must stick to the trails, stay back from cliff edges and observe posted warnings.

“Exploring the outdoors comes with its risks. The National Park Service works to reduce those risks but your safety depends on your own good judgment, adequate preparation, and constant awareness,” the site reads.

“Falls from cliffs on trails have resulted in death. Loose sand or pebbles on stone are very slippery. Be careful of edges when using cameras or binoculars. Never throw or roll rocks. “There may be hikers below you. Be aware of the hazards to keep you, others, and park resources safe during your visit.”

One Instagram user lashed that “this is not what yoga teaches us about honouring other cultures, their sacred spaces, and following rules which are created for our safety”.

“I think we by now are so sick of these self centred attention seekers that not having them in a beautiful picture of nature would be so much more pleasant. Please STOP with the selfie,,” another added.

The Instagram page is filled with clips of tourists engaging in various risky acts at national parks.
