A woman has gone overboard on a Taylor Swift-themed cruise in the Bahamas.

The missing 66-year-old was sailing on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas ship on Tuesday night, which had departed Miami on Monday, when she was reported to have fallen overboard about 9.40pm.

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force and United States Coast Guard launched a joint search and rescue operation, but on Wednesday afternoon, a representative for the Coast Guard told People magazine the search had been suspended, pending any further developments.

In an earlier statement about the operation, RBDF said it had dispatched a vessel to search the area off Paradise Island, while the Coast Guard helped from the sky.

Royal Caribbean said its crew “immediately” launched a search and rescue effort, and the cruise line has been working with local authorities.

“We are also providing support and assistance to the guest’s family during this difficult time,” a statement provided to news.com.au said.

“To respect the privacy of our guest’s family, we have no additional details to share.”

It is understood three travel agents hosted an “In My Cruise Era” sail on board the Royal Caribbean ship for hundreds of fans after Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour shows in Miami, but it is not affiliated with the pop star.

It was also not a full ship charter and it is unknown if the missing woman had booked for the themed cruise.

There were 199 staterooms dedicated to the Taylor Swift-themed cruise, which would grant access to private, Taylor-themed events on-board, according to the event’s website.

Those events included friendship bracelet trading, dancing, singing and Swift trivia.

Swift had performed three shows in Miami on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to kick off the final leg of her tour.
