Wild moment passenger slaps flight attendant across the face
This is the wild moment a man slaps a flight attendant across the face before another passenger bizarrely punched him, prompting an emergency landing.
Footage has captured the moment an unruly passenger slapped a male flight attendant across the face, before another passenger punched him, prompting an emergency landing.
The man was on-board Irish budget airline Ryanair, heading from Liverpool in the UK to Tenerife in Spain when a fight broke out, causing the plane to divert to Santiago.
A video of the July 4 incident has since been doing the rounds on social media.
It was originally posted on Canal 4 Tenerife’s Facebook page, before going viral, showing several cabin crew attempting to control a man as he tries to reach into an overhead cabin.
After the staff close the door of the compartment, the man turns to one of the flight attendant’s and slaps him across the face before a seated passenger wearing a grey T-shirt stands up and then punches the man in the face.
Fellow passengers can be heard yelling after the slap and an even louder uproar following the unexpected punch, as crew continued to try and tame the chaos.
He was detained with a seat belt, according to Spanish media.
“The crew of a flight from Liverpool to Tenerife south have contacted us about a conflictive passenger on board and have had to divert to Santiago de Compostela,” Spanish air traffic controllers said on X.
Ryanair confirmed to The Mirror the man has been banned from flying with the airline.
“This flight from Liverpool to Tenerife (July 4) diverted to Santiago after a passenger became disruptive on-board,” a statement to the publication read.
“Crew called ahead for police assistance and the aircraft was met by local police upon arrival who removed this passenger before this flight continued to Tenerife.
“This passenger has since been banned from flying with Ryanair.”
