Two Australian tourists beaten outside Bali nightclub
Shocking footage has emerged of two Australian tourists being viciously beaten with bar stools and bats outside a Bali club.
Shocking footage of two Australians being savagely beaten with bar stools and bats by an angry mob of men near a nightclub in Bali have surfaced online.
The men, identified as 39-year-old Maroun Mardini and 32-year-old Milard Said, were leaving the Atlas Super Club in North Kuta late Monday night when they found themselves in a fiery exchange with club security.
Footage of the altercation shows the two Aussies being attacked by a dozen men wielding bats, metal poles and what is believed to be the leg of a bar stool.
In the video, the attackers can be heard shouting things like “go back to your place!”, “I f**k you up!” and “take that!” as the pair flee to the safety of a nearby taxi.
At one point in the video, a man dressed in the nightclub’s T-shirt is shown to have joined in and is swinging a punch to the jaw of one of the men, as they were defenceless against the assault.
The Daily Mail reports that the Aussies were eventually rescued by police. In one picture shown by the publication, the pair were slumped in the back of a police ute, covered in cuts and bruises with their clothing ripped.
A spokesperson for Badung police has said the reason the incident occurred was due to the two men asking security to get them a taxi.
“After security hailed a taxi, one of the foreigners then tried to ride his motorbike out of the wrong exit,” they said, as reported by the Daily Mail.
“The security guard reprimanded the foreigner. The foreigner then allegedly got angry and pushed the security guard. One of them allegedly tried to punch one of the security guards.”
According to the police spokesperson, when the pair tried to leave the area the security guard began to start “screaming and yelling” that the tourists had attempted to hit him.
“Other security and locals from around the area then started chasing the two foreigners. They were beaten by the mob,” they said.
It’s been reported that neither parties involved are making a police report while the police investigation remains ongoing.
