His wife, named as Lizzette Zambrano, 35, suffered life-threatening injuries at the Sonoran Sea Resort in Puerto Peñasco and was rushed to hospital.

She’s suffering from severe burns injuries that are consistent with electric shock, according to KTSM.

She has since been transferred to the United States and is in a critical condition.

It’s understood a failure in the wiring of the jacuzzi is being blamed for causing the incident, which took place about 8pm on Tuesday June 11.

“Our best friends have experienced a horrible accident. Jorge had a heart of gold and was always there for family and friends,” the organiser wrote.

“The love they shared was one for ages. We are asking for your help to bring him home & help with medical expenses for her.

“As Lizzette is in the hospital her mother Maria has remained strong and has been helping during this difficult time. Maria will continue to support Lizzette to make sure she receives all donations. We are beyond thankful for the love and support that our friends have received.”

Mr Guillen had been studying refrigeration at Western Technical College in El Paso and was set to graduate on June 14.

He had previously been working at Otero County Processing Center.

Zambrano was previously employed as a teacher at East Point Elementary School.
