Georgia Love and her partner Lee Elliott have sent messages of support after fire destroyed the luxury houseboat where they got engaged.
Bachelorette star Georgia Love and her partner Lee Elliott have shared their heartbreak as the luxury houseboat where they celebrated their engagement was destroyed by fire.
Two guests at the luxury floating villa, The Lilypad, managed to get themselves to safety after it became engulfed by flames off the coast of Palm Beach at around 2pm on Sunday.
Fire crews on Rural Fire Service boats and commandeered private vessels used portable pumps to battle the blaze but the houseboat was destroyed.
Hazardous materials crews installed booms around the blackened remains of the houseboat to prevent fuel leaking into the water, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Elliott, who celebrated his engagement with Love at The Lilypad, posted a message of support to the venue’s owners on Instagram Stories.
“You will rebuild @LilypadPalmBeach and it will be as incredible as ever,” Elliott wrote in the message that was also shared by Love.
“(Georgia) and I will be the first to rebook and stay as soon as you do!”
He said it was a “incredibly special place” for the engaged couple.
Investigations into the blaze are under way but a Fire and Rescue spokesperson said it appeared to be accidental.
The pair who escaped the fire weren’t injured.
The houseboat, called The Lilypad, is a luxurious boutique holiday rental for two in Pittwater Bay off Palm Beach, one of Sydney’s most exclusive beach suburbs.
Overnight stays start at $1750 but it can cost $1950 for a one-night stay during the peak summer season.
The property can only be reached by boat or seaplane and features an on-board day spa, wine cellar, fireplace and chef-prepared meals, along with use of a private boat, paddle board and fishing gear.
Its listing on Airbnb describes the The Lilypad as a “luxurious floating villa for overnight stays and intimate events” in a tranquil location and “the ultimate isolated escape for two”.
