A man has been arrested at Bali Airport after he allegedly got caught trying to hide something in a condom in his stomach.
A foreigner has been arrested at Bali Airport after methamphetamine wrapped in a condom was allegedly found hidden in his stomach.
The man from Malaysia allegedly had four packages of the drug ice weighing 205.5 grams, which he had inserted into his stomach through his anus, according to local media.
Detik Bali reported the man, identified only by his initials ABZ, was arrested at the airport on Thursday, with Bali Provincial National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) chief Nurhadi Yuwono releasing a statement on Saturday.
“The perpetrator employed the tactic of internal concealment within the stomach for the methamphetamine,” he said.
The foreigner is allegedly part of a drug network.
“The perpetrator has been detained and his information is still being investigated to uncover other drug networks,” Yuwono said.
Indonesia has strict drug laws and offences can carry the death penalty.
Earlier this year, a 19-year-old Brazilian woman, who was caught with drugs at Bali Airport, made headlines across the world when it was revealed she could face execution by firing squad.
But in June, Manuela Vitoria de Araujo Farias was sentenced to 11 years in prison.
Her lawyer Davi Lira da Silva told Brazilian media it was a “miracle”.
Farias had been charged with international drug trafficking after she was arrested over 3kg of cocaine found in her luggage in January.
