‘Severe turbulence’ injuries on Sydney flight

Passengers on-board an Air India flight have reportedly been injured after the plane encountered severe turbulence.

Air India flight AI-302 flew from Indira Gandhi International Airport at New Delhi, India for Sydney on Tuesday afternoon.

The Boeing B787-800 aircraft ran into severe turbulence mid-flight, which resulted in seven passengers reporting minor injuries, according to The Times of India.

Cabin crew, a doctor and nurse on-board the flight provided first aid to the wounded passengers.

The plane touched down at Sydney Airport on Wednesday morning. There was medical assistance for the injured passengers.

Three passengers were treated for injuries at the airport. No one was hospitalised.

Air India has not released a statement on the incident.
