Ryanair launches cheeky ‘ban’ on James Corden following restaurant uproar

Following the scathing review of James Corden’s behaviour at a popular New York restaurant, an airline has come out swinging against the comedian.

‘Most abusive customer’: James Corden banned from NYC restaurant

Along with getting a brutal take-down from the owner of an up-market New York restaurant, it looks like James Corden won’t be able to step on board a Ryanair flight either.

Restaurateur Keith McNally went viral on Monday after issuing a scathing review of Corden’s behaviour towards waitstaff, labelling him “abusive” and a “tiny cretin of a man”.

Mr McNally alleged that the British actor and talk show host verbally abused restaurant staff and made a fuss about the food he was served, according to Fox News.

“[He’s] the most abusive customer to my Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago,” Mr McNally wrote on the Instagram post.

“I don’t often 86 a customer, [but] today I 86’d Corden. It did not make me laugh.”

The term “86” is culinary slang that refers to nixing unavailable menu items or, in this case, customers who are no longer welcome.

It’s understood Corden called Mr McNally later that day and apologised “profusely” for his behaviour, which prompted the restaurant owner to reverse the ban he had placed on the actor.

However that hasn’t stopped some others from poking fun at the ordeal.

Taking to Twitter, budget carrier Ryanair – known for its cheeky social media – tweeted, “James Corden BANNED from Ryanair,” and attached a photo of Corden with a large red “no symbol” over him.

The post was met with thousands of likes and comments, but not everyone supported the tongue-in-cheek post.

“Banned from eating at a NYC restaurant, so European airline Ryanair banned him from flying? I’m confused,” one wrote.

“Thank f**k, imagine him doing ‘Carpool Karaoke’ on a flight,” another added.

The budget airline has a reputation for joking online, previously taking aim at Leonardo DiCaprio’s for his ‘younger partner’ dating history and Eric Trump for using private jets.

Prior to revoking the restaurant ban on Corden, Mr McNally detailed Corden’s outbursts, claiming the comedian demanded free drinks after finding a hair in his food.

“Get us another round of drinks this second,” Corden allegedly said to waitstaff.

“And also take care of all of our drinks so far. This way I [won’t] write any nasty reviews in Yelp or anything like that.”

In a separate incident, according to Mr McNally, Corden dined at Balthazar with his wife Julia Carey on October 9. The comedian’s wife ordered an egg yolk omelette and found egg white mixed in. The pair alerted the server to the error.

After returning with a new omelette, the kitchen staff mistakenly paired it with home fries instead of the salad Corden’s wife had ordered. Corden then began “yelling like crazy” at the server.

“You can’t do your job! You can’t do your job!” Corden allegedly shouted. “Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself!”

The floor manager then intervened and gave the couple free glasses of champagne to ease tensions. The manager reported that Corden was pleasant to him but “nasty” to the server.

Balthazar is a well-known celebrity hot spot in New York City.
