A Queensland truck driver has been seriously injured after his vehicle fell two to three metres from a bridge.
Just before 6am on Friday, the 50-year-old driver veered off the bridge on the Cunningham Highway at Womina.
The man had to be rescued from the wreckage and remains in a serious condition, suffering injuries to his legs, chest, back and head.
“He was trapped in his truck for an extended amount of time,” an Ambulance spokesperson said.
“He’s recently been freed and has been transported to a waiting rescue helicopter.
“No one else was injured but he’s still in a serious condition.”
The driver is currently being transported to a waiting rescue helicopter which will transport him to an unconfirmed Brisbane hospital.
In the aftermath of the horror crash the Cunningham Highway remains closed.
