Plane’s emergency landing after passenger screams “I want to fly” while trying to get into cockpit
A PLANE in China was forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger threw money into the air and screamed ‘I want to fly’ as he tried to access the cockpit.
A COMMERCIAL flight in China was forced to make an unscheduled landing after a passenger threw money into the air as he tried to force his way into the aircraft’s cockpit.
The incident happened just minutes after takeoff, with dramatic footage showing the moment the apparently disturbed young man was subdued by other passengers and flight crew.
Reports said the scare occurred on China southern Airlines Flight CZ 8367 which left the city of Wuhan, capital of Central China’s Hubei Province, bound for Harbin, capital of China’s northeastern Heilongjiang Province.
Just five minutes after takeoff, the passenger reportedly began throwing money up into the air and yelled the words “I want to fly” repeatedly.
Shocked passengers watched as he then made a dash down the aisle and charged towards the cockpit doors in a violent attempt to enter the restricted area.
But he was quickly subdued by flight attendants, who with the help of other passengers, managed to force the man back into his seat.
Amateur video shot by another passenger showed the moment three or four men pinned the suspect down and bound his hands behind his back before sitting him up again.
Reports said the bizarre behaviour led to the captain of the China southern Airlines flight deciding on an unscheduled landing, which took place 20 minutes later in the city of Zhengzhou, capital of neighbouring Henan Province in Central China.
The suspect was escorted away by airport police who have detained him and who are now investigating.
