AN “obnoxious” flyer pleaded guilty to using threatening words aboard a Boeing 777. He yelled “Boom” during turbulence and now he’s going to pay for it.

Shehraz Sarwar, 38, was on an Emirates flight from Dubai to Birmingham in the UK on February 1 last year.

The Birmingham Mail reports the Birmingham native caused trouble shortly after the flight, carrying 347 passengers, took off.

He initially refused to put his seat belt on then made loud outbursts, the Mail reported.

Birmingham Crown Court heard this week that Sarwar yelled “Boom” and “Allahu Akbar” during turbulence shortly before landing, leaving a number of passengers fearing the worst.

Prosecutor Patrick Sullivan said the behaviour was “obnoxious” and scary for others on board.

“He fell asleep for about three quarters of the flight and when he woke up he threw a towel back at a member of staff who had offered him one,” Mr Sullivan said.

“He also threw a scone behind him although it did not land on anyone. He was also hitting his head with his hand. People were distressed and upset by his behaviour.”

A member of the cabin crew said it was the worst landing she had ever experienced.

“Everybody was scared. He put people who were already in fear in greater fear,” she said, according to the Mail.

The 38-year-old old pleaded guilty to using threatening words and behaviour and will be sentenced on July 1.

A Ryanair passenger allegedly shouted about having a bomb on board the budget airliner in May this year when flight crew refused to serve him a beer.

The flight from Tenerife landed in Santiago de Compostela, Spain, where the passenger was arrested, according to local newspaper, El Correo Gallego.
