Mum’s final moments revealed in tragic photo taken hours before Ibiza death
The final photo of a young mum on holiday, hours before she died in her hotel room, has been shared as loved ones reel from their shocking loss.
The family of a young mum who died in her sleep after going for a nap in her Ibiza hotel room have shared the heartbreaking last photo of her.
Amy Connor, 23, tragically died while on holiday on the Spanish island with her cousin Alison and sister Toni.
Amy and Toni, from Coleraine, Northern Ireland, had been sunbathing at the hotel before they went back to their room to rest on August 20.
Toni had shared a tragic final photo of her and her sister, taken near the pool, shortly before Amy’s sudden and unexpected death hours later.
Toni, 26, told Belfast Live that Amy went into the shower before heading to bed and never woke up.
“I went and sat out on the balcony and ate some crisps and chilled and when I came back in, she was still in the bed,” she said.
“It was so surreal, it didn’t make sense. It was just such a shock.”
Amy, a young mum who leaves behind a three-year-old daughter, died suddenly in her sleep although the exact cause of death is not clear.
Toni praised hotel staff at the Ibiza Rocks resort for helping her grieving family, saying she was “gobsmacked at their generosity”.
“The hotel staff were incredible, we couldn’t have asked for better,” she said, adding staff packed their suitcases for them, provided food and offered them a free hotel in London.
“I was so gobsmacked at their generosity in our time of need.”
Toni, 26, called her younger sister “friendly and outgoing” and said she was “the kind of person if you met her once you’d definitely remember her”.
“It’s no exaggeration when I say I have had over 1000 messages sent to me just on Facebook, there have been bunches of flowers and cards and everything sent to the house, people have been so generous,” she said.
“Amy was the kind of person who was friends with everyone, it never made a difference what side of the town they were from, she was just friends with everyone and that’s what everyone loved about her.”
Amy leaves behind her daughter, parents Carol and Arthur and three siblings.
Her family planned a funeral for Amy that featured a custom pink coffin decorated with diamonds with an engraving that read “Princess.”
“They said they had never made a coffin like it before and I thought that sounds right, Amy was one of a kind,” Toni said.
“The girls are going to lift the coffin and we want to give her the best send-off possible.”
