‘Minor engine issue’ turns Sydney bound flight back to Melbourne

In the third day in a row of engine-related issues for the airline, a Qantas flight from Melbourne to Sydney has been forced to turn back.

A Qantas flight bound for Sydney has been forced to turn back to Melbourne due to a “minor engine issue”.

It’s the third engine-related issue for Qantas in as many days.

On Wednesday, the pilot of a flight from New Zealand to Sydney issued a mayday call after losing an engine.

Then, on Thursday, a flight to Fiji was forced to turn back to Sydney as a “precaution”.

On Friday morning, the pilots of Melbourne to Sydney flight QF430 “received an indication of a minor engine issue”.

“As a precaution, they returned to Melbourne,” a spokesperson for Qantas said.

“The aircraft landed normally – this was not an emergency or priority landing.

“Both engines remained operational throughout the flight.”

Customers will be booked on other flights over the coming hours.
