Wild footage shows a man allegedly trying to open a plane door before several passengers tackled him to the ground as onlookers watched on in shock.

Shock moment man tries to open plane door

This is the shocking moment a raging passenger tried to open the door of a packed plane before being wrestled to the ground.

The man, reported to be a 27-year-old British boxer, was detained after sparking panic on the busy flight from Zadar, Croatia on Friday night.

Footage shows the man suddenly getting up from his seat and yelling before storming towards the front of the plane and demanding staff open the door, The Sun reports.

Holding up a fist, the man could be seen yelling as he shoved past a member of the crew standing in the aisle.

Two passengers jumped out of their seats to restrain the man before tackling him to the ground.

Stunned onlookers could be heard gasping as they scrambled to move out of the way as the man was shoved to the floor.

The plane was reportedly moving along the runway and preparing for takeoff to London Stansted at the time.

A woman who filmed the shocking incident said most people on the flight were returning from Hideout festival in Croatia at the end of last month.

Footage shows the Brit – dressed in a white t-shirt and shorts – later being escorted off the plane and dragged across the tarmac.

Zadar Police Department said a 27-year-old Brit was arrested on the tarmac and an investigation has been launched into the incident, BNN reports.

He’s reportedly facing charges of disrupting public order.

The man was identified in several reports as a professional boxer – but his name has not been released.

A spokesperson for Ryanair told The Sun: “This flight from Zadar to London Stansted returned to stand when an individual passenger became disruptive while preparing for takeoff.

“The passenger was removed from the aircraft by local police before this flight continued safely to London Stansted.

“This is now a matter for local police.

“We sincerely apologise to affected passengers for any inconvenience caused as a result of this passenger’s disruptive behaviour.”

It comes after a brutal mid-air brawl erupted on a flight – leaving passengers screaming in terror.

Two men were seen tussling on the Southwest Airlines plane before the passenger in a blazer and baseball cap grips his rival in a headlock.

He rained down blows on the heavily tattooed traveller – and could be heard scoffing: “You a p*ssy, you a p*ssy!”

A group of onlookers desperately tried to pull the pair apart as chaos broke out on the flight from Dallas Love Field to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

Cries of “stop it” and “let go of him” could be heard in the footage.

The woman who recorded the footage claimed the row began after the tattooed man had “bumped into his wife by accident, and he started mouthing off”.

On another flight, a passenger allegedly tried to stab a flight attendant in the neck and open an emergency exit.

Shocking footage appears to show Francisco Severo Torres, 33, lunging at cabin crew with a broken spoon on a United Airlines flight from LA to Boston.

Heroic passengers raced to pull Torres away and pin him to the ground.

The captain of the flight radioed air traffic control to tell them Torres had been detained by six passengers – but was “not going quietly”.

The passenger was arrested at Boston airport after the plane touched down.
