Man pulled unconscious from water after trio of swimmers rescued from North Stradbroke Island beach

A man was pulled unconscious from the waters of a popular tourist beach after three swimmers were swept out to sea, sparking a massive rescue effort.

A man has been pulled unconscious from a popular tourist beach after three people were swept out to sea, sparking a massive rescue effort.

Surf Life Saving Queensland volunteers sprung into action after a man who was swimming outside the flags at North Stradbroke Island’s Frenchman’s Beach in Queensland became distressed after he couldn’t swim back to shore on Sunday.

Two others – who had tried to swim out to rescue him – also required assistance.

All three people were safely brought back to shore by the volunteers.

RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was also called to assist, after the unconscious man was found face down in the water before bringing him to shore.

Paramedics performed CPR on the unconscious man.

He was flown in a serious but stable condition to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital.

Another swimmer who was also rescued was flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.

The third swimmer did not require medical assistance.
