Man, 35, charged after passenger dies in horror crash near Bathurst

A man has been charged after his passenger, 33, died in a horrific crash on the side of the road.

A man is facing serious charges after his passenger died in a horrific car crash in NSW’s Central West.

A passing motorist found the crashed Toyota LandCruiser off Nangar Road, about 10km west of Canowindra, about 8.30am on Sunday June 18, sounding the alarm.

The front seat passenger, a 33-year-old Forbes man, died at the scene.

The driver, a 35-year-old man, was taken to Orange Base Hospital where he was treated for a minor head injury.

After subsequent mandatory testing the man was released from hospital and taken to Orange Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, driving in a dangerous manner, and negligent driving occasioning death.

He was refused bail to appear at Orange Local Court on June 19.

Police inquiries into the circumstances around the incident are ongoing.
