Jetstar flights cancelled after ute crashes into plane at Sydney Airport
Travellers moving through Sydney Airport have had their plans disrupted after a crash involving a plane.
A number of Jetstar flights have been cancelled after a plane and ute collided on the tarmac.
Sydney Airport says the ute was being driven by an airport security contactor when it ran into the engine of a grounded plane at about 5.30am on Monday.
The plane was being towed when the crash occurred.
Photos of the vehicle show the crash shattered the car’s windscreen and crumpled part of the side and bonnet of the car.
No one was on-board the plane during the crash.
“A Sydney Airport utility vehicle made contact with one of our aircraft, which was being towed to the gate without passengers,” a Jetstar spokesperson said.
“We’re working with Sydney Airport to fully investigate what happened.”
All of the flights the aircraft was due to service have been cancelled, causing disruptions for travellers.
It’s understood all affected passengers have been moved to alternative same day flights.
“There were no injuries and the aircraft is currently undergoing precautionary engineering checks,” Sydney Airport said in a statement.
