Jenolan Caves: Dozens rescued in snap Blue Mountains blizzard
DOZENS of sightseers were rescued after a convoy of buses and cars skidded off roads in heavy snow in NSW’s Blue Mountains.
DOZENS of sightseers were last night stranded near the Jenolan Caves in NSW when heavy snowfall blocked the road.
Police and State Emergency Services volunteers were at the scene where about 80 people, and 14 vehicles including seven buses, became stuck about 6pm.
A NSW Police Spokeswoman said emergency crews would use several grader machines to clear the snow.
The machines had not yet arrived on scene last night but police were confident the roads would be cleared within hours.
An SES spokesman said emergency services were doing what they could to free the bogged vehicles as heavy snow continues to fall.
