Gold Coast teenager remembered as a ‘true man’, after losing his life while on a Thailand holiday
The family of a 19-year-old man is desperately trying to bring his body home, after he died while holidaying in Thailand.
Loved ones are mourning the death of a “beautiful, young” Gold Coast teenager after he tragically lost his life while holidaying in Thailand.
The family of 19-year-old Daniel Talbot are desperately working to bring his body home so they can lay him to rest, after he unexpectedly died on Sunday.
Mr Talbot’s former teacher Dean Harawira said his cause of death is currently unknown, with the teen’s parents liaising with coroners to learn how their son passed.
“At this stage details of his passing are a little vague and the family are trying hard to deal with coroners and insurance and airline companies to get Daniel repatriated home to Australia as soon as possible,” Mr Harawira said.
The educator set up a GoFundMe page to help fund repatriation efforts and funeral costs once Mr Talbot is brought back home.
“All money raised will go directly to the family to assist with retrieving Daniel from Thailand and his funeral expenses,” Mr Harawira wrote.
“Daniel’s family would truly appreciate any financial assistance you can offer regardless of how small.”
Mr Talbot is being remembered as a “good person” among mates, with friend Harlem Williams saying the 19-year-old’s loss has left him heartbroken
“It hasn’t quite set in yet, because I don’t want to believe it but to my bro Daniel Talbot. We love you brother and I can’t comprehend that you won’t be around to brighten up our day,” he said on Facebook.
“I’ve travelled halfway across the world with you for our America Trip, a time in which I’ll never forget and you were a big part of that.
“You were loud, super smart, super funny, a good friend, someone I always admired for their commitment and determination. Rest easy … Now let’s get you home my bro.”
Meanwhile, Mr Talbot’s sister Edyn posted a photo of her and her brother when they were younger with the caption: “I love you so much. Please come back to me.”
Another friend close to Mr Talbot’s family said he had no words after hearing the news of the man’s death.
“Fly high young man, you’ll be home soon,” Anthony Johnson wrote.
“The devastating news that he has passed while overseas is all but too much to take.”
Another friend added: “Gonna miss you DT, wish I could’ve spent more time than I had with you. You were always the kindest person and a true man.”
So far generous Australians have raised $25,961 to help bring Mr Talbot home, which this value just over $4000 short of the family’s goal.
“If you are not in a position to donate at this time, we would be so appreciative if you could share it amongst your networks,” Mr Harawira wrote.
“On behalf of the Talbot & Wright families we simply say, Thank you.”
