Fury as couple having sex on popular Thailand beach goes viral

A video of a couple engaging in an X-rated act on a public beach have gone viral, with authorities now hunting down the pair.

Thailand’s Sin City beach is once again living up to its lascivious reputation, as yet another couple of tourists were caught taking advantage of the picturesque shore as the spot for a passionate round of lovemaking.

Months after another couple outraged officials with similar antics on the shoreline, the latest naked pair were spotted blatantly fornicating under the streetlights at Pattaya Beach — a popular tourist destination dubbed “Sin City” for its bawdy bars and massage parlours — sparking an investigation by local authorities.

The couple seemed unbothered in the one-minute video, which has gone viral, as other beachgoers seen sitting just metres away from the pair look on and laugh.

“Is this normal in Pattaya?” the original video, shared to Facebook, read.

It provoked shocked comments such as: “Why not go to a hotel with such performances?” and “What kind of people are these?”

The perverted rendezvous occurred on a strip of Jomtien Beach, home to high-rise apartments, hotels and restaurants, and not far from the Pattaya Water Sports Complex, according to Pattaya Mail.

The popular strip is flooded with locals and tourists at all hours of the day and late into the night, including the estimated 2am to 4am time frame police estimate the pair engaged in their affair on the sand.

It is also a well-known spot for public lovemaking, despite such acts being illegal.

The city’s Tourist Police is investigating the incident, but fear the pair may be long gone. While the video was only shared this week, it appears to have been filmed as long as three months earlier, Thai news site Khaosod English reported.

Tents were seen strewn near the part of the beach the pair was seen lying on, which lifeguard officials told police were removed in December.

Pattaya is a popular tourist destination in Thailand.

Sexual acts in public are illegal in Thailand — and are punishable by up to five years behind bars — but the rules have done little to stop offenders from blatantly engaging in the past.

In May of last year, a woman was caught performing oral sex on a man under a street light on a public sidewalk as workers set up a stage nearby.

In 2020, a couple who were caught on camera having sex on a beach have issued an apology to police.

Russian tourists Roman Grigorenko, 26, and Daria Vinogradova, 19, were filmed in Pattaya, Thailand on New Year’s Eve. After leaving a bar, the pair reportedly continued to drink on the sandy shores until a sudden urge kicked in.

Ms Vinogradova was filmed unbuttoning her denim shorts, before doing the same to Mr Grigorenko’s jeans.

In 2020, a Russian couple issued an apology after they were fined for having sex at a public beach in broad daylight.

The sexual act lasted for around 30 seconds before the pair scurried back to their hotel.

The footage was given to police, who ordered five top officers to track down the couple after Police Lieutenant Colonel Piyapong Ensarn said the indecent act could “destroy” the good image of Pattaya as a tourist resort.

Once the pair were arrested, they issued an apology for any offence they’d caused to locals but added they failed to notice anyone in their immediate vicinity.
