Flight crew reveal the worst passengers they’ve deal with
FLIGHT crew have revealed the worst passengers they’ve ever encountered and the stories are hilarious — if occasionally disgusting.
ANONYMOUS flight crew have revealed the worst passengers they’ve ever encountered in a hilarious — and occasionally gut-churning — new online discussion.
From drunk and demanding passengers to others who engage in disgusting mid-flight behaviours, these are some of the horror flyers that pilots and flight attendants put up with daily.
Scores of flight crew and their sympathetic loved ones shared their experiences in the Reddit thread, proving that just when we think we’ve seen the worst of human behaviour in the skies, there’s always someone willing to outdo it.
One of the most common complaints were about passengers who drank too much and became aggressive when they were cut off from alcohol service.
Other passengers became aggressive over even stranger things.
One flight attendant said they were flying from Las Vegas to Seattle with a woman “who had clearly been drinking at the airport beforehand”.
“On the flight she spilt her water on her sandwich she bought and demanded we compensate her with five vodkas and 10 blankets for the mess,” the Redditor explained.
“Mind you she is the one who spilt the drink on herself, not one of us.
“As my colleague goes over to wipe the tray table down with some napkins she starts screaming ‘She punched me, this f**king b*tch punched me!’.”
The hostie said the passenger then demanded to speak to the pilot and insisted that would never fly with the airline again.
The hostie continued: “Three days later this same woman tries to board the plane in Vegas and what do you know, four of us that were working the original flight are now working this flight and recognise her.
“So she was kicked off immediately for disturbance to flight crew and at that point her ticket is cancelled automatically and she is out all of that money.”
Other anecdotes described some particularly outrageous behaviour, such as the male passenger who dropped his pants and defecated in the aisle.
Another flight attendant said: “I once had a passenger take off his shoes, put his dirty feet on the seat and clip all of his toenails.
“It was rude, there were toenails flying everywhere.
“He also left a nice pile of his hacked off heel skin on the seat for someone else to deal with.”
Said another Redditor: “I work for an airline and some of the stories of people touching themselves on board are pretty creepy.
“One guy apparently got off on the feeling of take off and landing and a flight attendant had to ask him ever so politely to stop masturbating.
“He was in business class so I guess a little too much privacy can go along way.”
Then, of course, are the passengers with the most unreasonable of demands.
One Reddit user, who said they weren’t a flight attendant, explained that they were flying first class from Dubai to New York when a fellow passenger asked a hostie: “Excuse me, could you ask the pilot to turn off the left engine, so my son can get some sleep?”
A flight attendant explained the story of a “fairly large” passenger who refused to sit next to another “fairly large” passenger on a flight on a small regional plane in the United States.
The first passenger, upset he wasn’t able to change seats, proceeded to “cross his leg and lean as far into the aisle as possible, literally an inch from the seat across from him”.
So the hostie decided to get the ultimate revenge.
“My job requires me to make that walk many times a flight, a couple times with a large heavy cart,” they said.
“I knew what he was doing so I made sure I pushed my side of the cart as close to him as possible.
“Things calmed down but he still wouldn’t sit right in his seat, he wanted to make a point. So I only did trash runs when it looked like he was about to fall asleep.
“I can be an a**hole too.”
