‘Everything was wet’: Jetstar passenger’s horror discovery inside her luggage

A Jetstar passenger arrived home from Bali, only to make a devastating discovery inside her personal luggage.

A Jetstar passenger was left in horror after opening her luggage, following a flight home to Adelaide from Bali.

Elly Hudson returned home on Monday to find her clothes and other personal items soaked and discoloured inside her luggage.

No prior warning had been given to Ms Hudson before leaving the airport about any potential damage to her luggage, Ms Hudson told the Daily Mail.

“Our luggage is soaked,” Ms Hudson said on TikTok.

“My new suitcases now smell, will probably go mouldy and everything inside it is either wet or damaged. Like it had been sitting carelessly in the rain.”

Ms Hudson said on TikTok that her luggage contained new and cherished personal items, including a white cotton skirt and a jewellery box.

She said none of the items inside her luggage were dry, no items were in place where she had “originally packed” them, and many of her clothing items had streaked dye, as a result of being so wet.

One commenter on TikTok said, “this happened to me […] I landed in Sydney though. Opened my bag and it was all over my handbags.”

Other commenters recommended Ms Hudson invest in a hard shell suitcase and waterproof packing cubes.

When contacted by news.com.au, a Jetstar spokesman said the airline was “really sorry to see what happened”.

“Our customer care team has reached out to Ms Hudson to discuss what further support we can provide,” he said.

Jetstar’s damaged baggage claim policy states that claimants must provide photographs of damaged items, original baggage tags and a quote from an authorised luggage repairer, for their claim to be assessed and compensation decided under the discretion of Jetstar.

Their policy states, “please note that we are not liable for damage that occurs due to an inherent defect, quality or vice of the baggage or due to wear and tear.”

The spokesman said investigations were still underway into Ms Hudson’s formal claim, and a resolution was yet to be reached, but Jetstar was committed to working towards one.
