A French man who is known for extreme sports is dead after falling off the 68th storey of Hong Kong residential building.

Remi Lucidi, 30, was climbing the Tregunter Tower complex when he fell, according to the South China Morning Post, the New York Post reports.

Lucidi, known online as Remi Enigma, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to Hong Kong officials, Lucidi arrived at the building around 6pm local time and told the security guard that he was visiting a friend on the 40th floor.

A security officer attempted to apprehend Lucidi after the alleged friend confirmed he was not acquainted with him — but by then the stuntman had already taken an elevator.

Security footage later glimpsed Lucidi arriving by elevator on the 49th floor and then taking the stairs up to the top of the building.

According to those in pursuit of Lucidi, they found the hatch leading to the roof open, but he was nowhere in sight.

Police say the man was last seen alive at 7.38pm when he tapped on the window of the complex’s penthouse, prompting a maid to call the police.

The source — who has not been identified — said police believe Lucidi was trapped outside the penthouse and was banging on the window for help before the unfortunate accident.

A source close to the incident revealed police found Lucidi’s camera at the scene and it contained videos of his other death-defying acts.

Police have yet to issue an official cause of death.

According to Gurjit Kaur, the owner of the hostel where Lucidi was reportedly boarded, the guest was a “friendly and humble guy”.

“He was healthy and fit and happy-faced,” Kaur told the news outlet. “I feel very sad.”

A worker at the hostel claimed that he had spoken with Lucidi several times before his death and he had told him the man was visiting Hong Kong on holiday.

“He told me he was going to hike a mountain when I asked where he was going. He said he wanted to hike a lot when he was here,” said the worker.

Several of Lucidi’s fans took to social media to express their own grief.

“Rip brother,” said one Instagram follower. “Sad news no one ever wants to hear about a fellow explorer.”

“I don’t wanna believe it Remi I don’t want to believe it,” cried another. “Rest easy bro I love you.”

“You’ll never leave us, you’re unique,” said a third person.
