CASSIE Sainsbury’s boyfriend may have travelled 15,000km to see his fiancee, but he is yet to reunite with her, despite visiting the jail.

CASSIE Sainsbury’s boyfriend may have travelled 15,000km to see his fiancee, but he has to wait in line for access to the jail, just like the rest of the public.

Scott Broadbridge arrived in Bogota, Colombia, on Thursday night with a crew from Channel 7’s Sunday Night, which has signed him up for a tell-all interview.

He visited El Buen Pastor women’s prison, where the accused drug smuggler has been held for the past month, on what was a rainy Friday afternoon in the Colombian capital, but did not go inside.

Speaking through an interpreter, Mr Broadbridge filled out paperwork to gain permission to visit Ms Sainsbury via a small window at the right of the large blue gate that is the only way in or out of the prison. Visits are generally restricted to weekends and must be authorised.

Wearing jeans and shielding his face under a hoodie and dark sunglasses, Mr Broadbridge refused to comment to the media, which has been camped out at the front gate of the prison for more than a week.

Ms Sainsbury, a personal trainer, was caught with 5.8 kilograms of cocaine at Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport last month. The drugs were hidden in 18 headphone cases stowed in her suitcase.

She claims she knew nothing about the drugs and was set up by a mysterious man she met and who acted as her interpreter.

The 22-year-old is yet to have a visit from any family or friends.

Her mother Lisa Davis and sister Khala Sainsbury are also in Bogota, having signed their own lucrative deal for an interview via Channel 9’s 60 Minutes.

They are also yet to gain access to the jail.

Ms Sainsbury has been told that she will not receive any special treatment in giving her family access.

Both camps may be able to be reunited with her finally on Saturday or Sunday, but a regular visitor to the jail told news.com.au that long queues were expected this weekend for Mother’s Day.

Ms Sainsbury’s mother and sister visited a spot across the canal from the prison on Friday, which has the best view of Patio 5, the section of the jail where Ms Sainsbury is detained.

They were photographed by News Corp waving to the patio in the hope of greeting her.

There is a clear divide between Ms Sainsbury’s family and her boyfriend, with each signing a deal with a rival TV network.

In her first interview since being arrested, Ms Sainsbury expressed disappointment in her mother and sister for accepting the Channel 9 deal without her permission.

“They’re just going out and doing it on their own. That’s my problem,” Ms Sainsbury told News Corp via a prison telephone.

“It’s my story. They need to get permission from me to sell my story.”

The South Australian woman also expressed her disappointment in her Colombian lawyer, Orlando Herran, for speaking about her case to the media.

While he has previously been happy to talk about her situation, Mr Herran declined to speak to news.com.au in Bogota on Friday.

While he has remained tight-lipped since arriving in Bogota, Mr Broadbridge has previously professed Ms Sainsbury’s innocence publicly.

“I have no doubt that Cass is innocent of the charges,” he said at a press conference in Adelaide last Friday.

“Cass is the delight of my life. I know that she is not involved in the drug trade.

“I know that she was not deliberately taking drugs or carrying drugs.

“I know there are many unanswered questions in this case and I intend to work with the lawyers to get to the bottom of them.”
