AN AUSTRALIAN woman has been killed in a jet-ski collision with her partner in waters off the Thai tourist island of Phuket.

The paper reported that the couple smashed into each other after they were both blinded by strong sun light reflected from the sea on the island’s Kata Beach at 4.45pm local time.

Ms Collie was reportedly unconscious when she was pulled out of the sea by lifeguards.

Alongside her partner, they frantically tried to perform CPR but Ms Collie was pronounced dead before arriving at hospital, Bangkok Post reported. Her partner suffered minor injuries.

When News Corp Australia contacted the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for comment, it stated: “The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian woman who died in Phuket. For privacy reasons, we are unable to provide further information.”

According to Ms Collie’s Facebook page, she studied at Charles Sturt University.

Before that she was a student at Goulburn Valley Grammar School in Shepparton, Victoria.

Her partner, who calls himself Tommy Croc Hunter on his Facebook profile, lists himself as an apprentice plumber from Melbourne.

According to Fairfax Media, under Thai law anyone using a jet-ski is supposed to have a “captain’s permit” but the law is often overlooked to let tourists hire jet-skis.
