An Australian mum has broken down in tears as she opened up about desperately trying to raise enough funds to get her baby daughter out of Bali for lifesaving medical care.

Seven-week-old Lucky is fighting for her life in intensive care in Denpasar after she was rushed to hospital in the early hours of Wednesday morning struggling to breathe.

Doctors determined she had a severe bacterial infection and the newborn now requires a ventilator to breathe.

Lucky’s devastated mum Honey Ahimsa, who grew up in Melbourne and now lives in Bali, said the current hospital bills cost her and her partner $8,000 a day.

The mum told Sunrise on Friday she wishes she could just teleport her daughter home to Australia [and] that she could “just be in the best hospital”.

“And they had all the medicine she needs and they could do the tests she needs so they could find out what she needs,” Ms Ahimsa told the host as she broke down in tears.

“I’m sorry I haven’t slept in days.”

She said Lucky had a seemingly innocent cough and thought she may have just had a common cold, before she ended up in hospital fighting for life.

In an Instagram update, the distraught mum said there is nothing worse than a doctor telling you your baby isn’t going to make it.

“My girl is hanging on though! I’m so proud of her.”

Ms Ahimsa said she and her partner, who also have a five-year-old son, Hendrix, are trying to raise enough funds to have Lucky flown to Australia or Singapore for treatment.

But Lucky needs to be stable before she can fly and will remain in hospital until she is no longer in a critical condition.

Meanwhile, Ms Ahimsa said she was quoted $90,000 for to fly to Singapore on an air ambulance.

She has thanked everyone who contributed to an GoFundMe which has raised more than $125,000 as of Friday morning.

Speaking of the moment she knew something was wrong, Ms Ahimsa told 7 News: “I tried to help her, just like normal when babies get sick, they just need sleep … but then she stopped drinking my milk.

“She got really tired and then I looked at her stomach, and you could see her lungs [pulsating].

“So, we quickly rushed her to hospital and … she started going cold and losing her colour.”

Ms Ahimsa asked for people to pray for her daughter in a post on Instagram, where she has 25,000 followers.

“Our hearts are broken. We need all the help we can get. She is the most beautiful, gentle little girl and the world needs to know her,” she wrote.

All money raised on the GoFundMe will go towards Lucky’s medical costs.
