Passengers at an airport have been left helpless after hearing screams of pain coming from the base of an elevator.

An airport worker has been crushed to death by a lift with horrified passengers hearing screams but unable to help.

As reported by The Sun, mechanic Wisatrat Tangsoh, 22, was working at the bottom of an elevator shaft at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi International Airport when the two-tonne glass cabin came crashing down.

Shocked travellers heard cries of pain as they passed by but were helpless as the horror unfolded.

Asian Elevator Co staff rushed to the scene, finding Wisatrat’s crushed body in a pool of blood at the base of the shaft.

It’s believed he descended to the bottom to collect a wrench.

But Wisatrat faced his horror fate when the lift slowly began descending.

He was trapped at the bottom and unable to stop the heavy cabin as it came down.

Medics pronounced him dead at the scene after he suffered a catastrophic head injury.

The scene of the terror was taped off as emergency services retrieved his body and sent it off for post-mortem examination.

A Suvarnabhumi International Airport statement said he did not properly follow safety procedures, resulting in the deadly accident.

It added: “Airports of Thailand (AOT) have co-ordinated with medics and police to inspect the scene with forensics experts.

“AOT has temporarily blocked off the area.

“We would like to confirm that the accident was not caused by a malfunction of the elevator in the area.

“The AOT would like to express its condolences to the family of the deceased. We will fully co-operate in the investigation to find the cause of the accident.”

It’s not the first horror story to surface out of Bangkok in recent weeks.

In July, six people were found dead in a hotel room at the Grand Hyatt, located right in the middle of a popular tourist district.

Thai cops then found traces of deadly poison cyanide in teacups.

There was no sign of struggle, with uneaten meals left on the table.

Cops were probing whether a financial dispute led to the mass poisoning with members of the group known to have invested money together.

Local media reported a woman poisoned the five other members of the group and herself.
