AIR New Zealand is “shocked” and “appalled” by lewd photos and video shared by airline staff, including a picture of a pilot posing with a blow-up doll in the cockpit.

The sick photos, which were believed to have been taken about a year ago, were reportedly shared to Facebook and Instagram after staff sent them to Snapchat.

However, a spokeswoman for Air New Zealand told News Corp the images were only brought to the airline’s attention “in the past 48 hours”.

She said an investigation had “commenced immediately” when staff were alerted.

A four-year-old Snapchat video of an air hostess pretending to spit water on passengers was also shared with the caption: “Wish I could spit on passengers like this”.

One of the staff members concerned no longer works for Air New Zealand and the other two have been removed from duties pending the outcome of the investigation, according to the spokeswoman.

“It goes without saying that this is a situation we are treating with extreme seriousness — and our obvious concern is that the behaviour displayed is a clear breach of not just our code of conduct but basic decency,” she said.

“We expect the highest standards of behaviour and respect from all our staff.”
