A surfer who needed help in rough conditions has gone missing near Margaret River

A surfer caught in rough conditions was last spotted by another surfer who saw him in the water before he vanished.

The search for a surfer who went missing in rough conditions has been suspended due to adverse weather conditions.

Police, marine rescue and jet skis were forced to suspend their search around Surfer’s Point near Margaret River on Saturday afternoon as wild weather battered the coastline.

The man was reported missing by another surfer about 4.35pm on Friday after he saw the man aged in his 40s needed help, but was unable to reach him because of the rough conditions.

Police and emergency services were called to Surfer’s Point to carry out a huge search and rescue operation of the water and beach area on Friday.

“At this time the surfer has not been located,” a police spokesman said.

Surfer’s Point was closed on Saturday while police, marine rescue and jet skis continued their search.
