Virgin Australia to welcome pets on domestic flights

Virgin Australia has just dropped one of its “best-value deals of the year”.

More than 300,000 domestic fares will be discounted for two days, or until sold out.

The cheapest flights on offer are between Sydney and Byron Bay from $45.

Sydneysiders can also snap up seats on flights to the Gold Coast from $65 and to the Sunshine Coast from $69. The sale fares are also available in the opposite direction.

Aussie travellers have a chance to get their hands on flights to Perth from Melbourne and Sydney from $199, or flights from the WA capital to the east coast cities for the same price.

Flights to Cairns are available from $95 when travelling from Brisbane, $115 from Sydney, and $165 from Perth.

The sale fares are available to book now for travel between July 1 and August 31 this year, with the airline noting this includes the July school holiday period.

Virgin Australia executive Libby Minogue said they hoped the sale would help families travel amid the high cost of living.

“The sale includes hotspots like Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Perth, Cairns, Adelaide, Hobart and much more,” she said.

“We hope the sale will allow even more Australians to take a break with their families over the school holidays.

“We urge travellers to get in quick to avoid missing out on the incredible deals – especially over the school holiday period.”

The sale ends at midnight AEST Saturday, June 8.

Other discounted routes include Melbourne-Gold Coast from $79, Melbourne-Hobart from $79, Sydney-Brisbane from $79, Melbourne-Adelaide from $85, Sydney-Melbourne from $89, Brisbane-Hamilton Island from $109, Adelaide-Gold Coast from $109, and Adelaide-Darwin from $139.

All the sale fares mentioned above are one-way Economy Lite fares, which include carry-on baggage but checked baggage costs extra.

It’s not the only sale Virgin Australia has going this week.

In celebration of its launch of new services between Melbourne and Uluru, and Brisbane and Uluru, the airline dropped a Uluru sale with fares from $119 one-way, also available now until midnight Saturday.

Virgin Australia CEO Jayne Hrdlicka described the sale as “incredible value”.

“Thanks to our wonderful partnerships with some of the world’s leading airlines, including Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines and United Airlines, we will now connect Uluru on a single airline ticket to more than 600 cities around the world, opening a new gateway for international tourists to explore Australia’s iconic Red Centre,” she said.

The new flights have been launched in partnership with the Northern Territory Government and Voyages Indigenous Tourism, operators of Ayers Rock Resort.
