Qantas unveils new domestic flight menu
Qantas has changed its in-flight menu across its entire domestic network for both economy and business class passengers.
Qantas will introduce a new menu across its entire domestic network in both economy and business class cabins.
The menu will be made up of nearly 70 new items, rolled out throughout October, offered on rotation across six different mealtimes – breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper – to give passengers more choice.
According to the airline, highlights from the economy menu include a focaccia with chorizo, pesto, bell peppers and Meredith Goats Cheese, a cheese board with Australian salt bush chilli jam and cottage cheese and spinach samosas.
It also highly rates its new triple choc brownie cookie and macadamia granola slice.
Meanwhile, for those on the pointy end, standouts include the smoked salmon bagel cream cheese with capers and pickled onions and a salad of miso glazed chicken breast, brown rice, sweet potato and green beans with sesame dressing.
For dessert, business class passengers can enjoy the all-new dark chocolate sour cherry fondant cake.
To help curate the new items, the airline has continued to work with its long-standing Australian suppliers.
“While the refreshed menu will provide a variety of new options on-board, particularly for Frequent Flyers, favourites such as Lindt Lindor balls will continued to be offered, with Qantas serving over 2.8 million of the chocolates across the domestic network last year,” a statement released on Thursday read.
“Customers can also expect to see a continued focus on more sustainable food packaging on-board as Qantas continues to collaborate with suppliers and transition to more sustainable options.”
In May, the airline ditched its lighter snack option to make way for more hot foods, following customer feedback.
It introduced gourmet brekkie burgers to Mediterranean pizza and cauliflower bites after updating its menu on domestic flights of more than two hours.
“We are always adjusting our menu in response to customer feedback and to enhance our in-flight dining experience,” Qantas executive manager of product and service, Phil Capps said, at the time.
“These hot menu items have been created using quality Australian ingredients and we’re pleased to be rolling out a wider range of choice for customers travelling across our domestic network,” he added.
Meanwhile, an enhanced spirits selection is on offer to help business passengers quench their thirst, with Campari and Starward Whisky being served on-board.
The airline is the only domestic airline to offer complimentary food and beverages, baggage, and on-board WiFi on its domestic Boeing 737s and Airbus A330s in economy.
