How to watch Apple Silicon at ‘One More Thing’ event November 11

The company has spent a decade trying to make its iPad tablet more like a computer. Now it’s going the other way.

Why Big Tech Is Getting Into Finance

Apple’s computers are about to receive a makeover with new processors designed by the company going into its computers for the first time in 15 years.

The company is expected to reveal new MacBook laptops featuring custom-designed processors that run on the ARM architecture on Wednesday morning.

Apple will stream the announcement on its Apple Events website, beginning from 5am AEDT.

It’s a big change for the company’s computers, which have used Intel chips since Apple announced it would move away from the PowerPC processors designed in alliance with IBM and Motorola in 2005.

Apple has been using custom-designed A-series chips in iPhone and iPad since 2009, and in that time it has become so good at designing chips that it’s grown confident enough to start putting them in its computers as well.

It’s thought the company was also growing increasingly frustrated with a lack of progress from Intel.

Apple Silicon was first announced at the WorldWide Developers’ Conference (WWDC) in June.

The transition to ARM architecture on its computers will allow for thinner and lighter devices but will require many developers to rewrite their programs to run on it.

It will however make it easier for developers already creating apps for iPhone and iPad to port them to Mac, because those devices already use ARM.

Now that Apple is making the chips it’s possible we could see a price drop as well, but don’t hold your breath for that.

Wednesday will mark Apple’s third consecutive month of product unveils, all of which have been “virtual events” streamed on its website in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

In September, the company announced a new Watch and iPad Air while October’s event was headlined by the new iPhone 12 models.

In addition the new Apple Silicon powered Macs, we could also see new AirPods Studio headphones and AirTags location devices, which had been predicted for previous events this year.
