Resident Evil roundup has new gameplay footage
The Resident Evil Showcase had plenty of new offerings for fans of Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 8: Village, and the upcoming Resident Evil RE:Verse.
The Resident Evil Showcase aired last night, showing new updates for Resident Evil 8: Village, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Resident Evil: RE:Verse.
We got a brand-new look at the upcoming Resident Evil content in this year’s showcase, starting with the DLC update for Resident Evil 8: Village, titled Shadows of Rose. In the DLC, players will control Ethan Winters’ daughter, Rose, as she attempts to find a cure for her condition. The DLC also features new Mercenaries mode maps, and two new playable characters for Mercenaries — Lady Dimitrescu and Heisenberg.
Next up, we got an extended look at new gameplay footage from Resident Evil 4 Remake, a remake of, arguably, one of the best games of all time. The game features a new introduction that differs from Resident Evil 4’s original cabin introduction, as well as showcasing the Village battle. In the trailer, we see new Leon moves, such as context-sensitive attacks and instant-kills, as well as a knife parry.
Some other features include the return of the Attache Case, as well as the Merchant — but the Merchant has a new Trade feature that allows you to swap treasure for rare items. Pre-orders are open now for Resident Evil 4 Remake, with three versions to choose from — Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s. Resident Evil 4 Remake launches March 24, 2023.
Finally, we got a brief update about an upcoming open beta period for Resident Evil RE:Verse, the online competitive combat game. The beta opens October 23, 19:00 PDT and lasts until October 25 at 23:00 PDT. The trailer featured some updated graphics and gameplay elements from when the last beta period appeared more than a year ago.
In other gaming news, Silent Hill had a showcase a few days ago, named the Silent Hill Transmission. In it, we got glimpses of the Silent Hill 2 Remake, a new Silent Hill Movie, a new Silent Hill “live” event, and an unknown new game named Silent Hill: f.
