Joe Biden may secretly be a computer gaming professional

A player with the name Joe Biden has been striking fear into Guilty Gear players, winning tournaments left and right.

New Tekken Game Seemingly Teased at EVO 2022

A player with the online handle of Joe Biden — you know, the President of the United States — has not only been participating in online Guilty Gear tournaments, but has been absolutely clearing the field, taking home first place in the most recent open tournament.

Obviously, Joe Biden is not actually playing Guilty Gear, a fighting game similar to Street Fighter — I would be shocked if he even knew what Street Fighter was, to be honest — but the fact that there is a player sweeping out other players in Guilty Gear: ACPR using his name is priceless.

You see, online tournaments do not require any sort of identifying information, for the most part. While most players use their unique online handle, some players prefer in-jokes or meme names. The player named Joe Biden is no different in that regard, but what makes this special is that tournaments have started rolling with the gag, tagging the official Twitter account for the President in tournament result tweets.

Yes, you read that right — the President of arguably the most powerful country in the world, is getting tagged on Twitter about a running gag that he may secretly play a devastating Chipp Zanuff, the main character the player uses to win games in tournaments.

These results aren’t new, either — according to PCGamer, Joe Biden has played in a total of 116 tournaments since November 2020. His first recorded first-place finish was in February 2021, at the GGACPR Last Chance Qualifier.

I’d love to be wrong, of course, as the idea that Joe Biden moonlights as this unstoppable Guilty Gear menace that strikes fear into the hearts of players worldwide is incredibly funny, but until he passes an act nationalising Guilty Gear as the official fighting game of the United States, it’s safe to say that he probably has more important things to do.

In other gaming news, a new horror game is showing off some incredible graphical fidelity, and the teaser trailer for it is absolutely terrifying. Rising crime is affecting small businesses in the United States, as the oldest video game store in the Pacific Northwest has been robbed at gunpoint — its third attack since July.
