The passing of TechnoBlade, a Minecraft Youtuber whose real name was Alex, was commiserated and his life celebrated by players, influencers, developers, and many more alike. Now, he’s been commemorated in the game itself.

An update issued to the Java edition of Minecraft changed the launcher to include a crowned pig, TechnoBlade’s signature animal. It hasn’t been officially announced or confirmed how long it will be present on the launcher image, but it’s expected to be permanent.

What Mojang, developer of Minecraft, has said is that TechnoBlade “will be missed dearly” and that they are heartbroken over his passing. The reaction to the addition of the crowned pig from other members of the community has also been highly positive.

TechnoBlade had a massive impact despite his young age of 23 over the years of being a YouTuber, reaching 10.7 million subscribers before his death, and 13.6 million today. His final video, amusingly titled “so long nerds” has reached 59 million views, his most popular ever by 14 million. It was also number one on trending quickly after being published.
