Konami wants more Silent Hill games
Silent Hill’s producer says that Konami is open to pitches for more games in the series, following the announcement of its revival.
Konami’s recent announcement of multiple Silent Hill games might just be the beginning, according to an interview with the series’ producer.
Silent Hill series producer Motoi Okamoto was interviewed by IGN following the announcement of multiple new games in the series after a decade-long break. Okamoto says that Konami can only do so much itself, so it’s turning to other developers to make new games.
“There’s only so much we can do ourselves, which means we need to work with lots of different indie creators if we want to make lots of different [Silent Hill games],” Okamoto told IGN, “That’s why we made moves to work together with people around the world who want to make Silent Hill games and approached Bloober Team, as well as Annapurna Interactive and No Code”.
Silent Hill was announced to be returning with a new movie and games last year, starting with a remake of Silent Hill 2 by The Medium developer Bloober Team. Two other games were announced, both being developed by indie developers, as well as a new movie, Return to Silent Hill.
Still, that could just be the beginning of a greater revival for the beloved series. Okamoto said that creators who have an interesting idea for a Silent Hill project should reach out.
“Unfortunately, there are some projects that never actually got off the ground. Still, I think the number of projects we have will only continue to grow,” Okamoto said, “The fact we were reviving Silent Hill was a secret until now, so we couldn’t exactly go out and yell, ‘Hey, everyone! Bring us your Silent Hill projects!’ We can do that now, so if creators from around the world who love Silent Hill bring us their pitches, I promise to look through every one of them. We’re all ears”.
Unfortunately for some fans, some of those games might not be coming to their preferred platform. Microsoft recently said that PS5 exclusives, like Silent Hill 2, won’t ever come to Xbox, due to an agreement Sony made that “requires the exclusion of Xbox from the set of platforms these publishers can distribute their games on”.
