Game studio leaks Star Wars game to “gauge” interest

Quantic Dream allegedly leaked details about its upcoming Star Wars game to “gauge community reactions” and help with recruitment efforts.

Quantic Dream, the studio behind games like Detroit: Become Human and Heavy Rain, allegedly leaked details about its upcoming Star Wars game, Eclipse, in order to gauge fan reactions and rewrite details if necessary.

In a report by Insider Gaming, Quantic Dream is alleged to have intentionally released details regarding Eclipse, in order to “gauge community reactions” and “help with talent recruitment efforts.” These details were leaked to a gaming podcast and included information about the plot and details of the game.

According to the report, the game will have a lead character named Sarah, a “human-like” character around 30 years old. “This race is at the lead of some sort of empire called The Zaraan, a race not seen in Star Wars before,” the report stated.

“It prides itself on political and military aggression, and similar to what you find elsewhere in Star Wars, there’s little differentiation between males and females when it comes to roles and responsibilities. But, there’s an interesting wrinkle when the Zaraan marries their nuptials, and it carries interesting military implications as they become one governing unit that works together,” the report continued.

“This is a problem because Sarah, a fanatical true believer in violence and criminality, is regularly demonstrated by her empire, and is married to a character named Xendo who is a far softer touch. Part of the game seems to revolve around these two characters and their relationship.”

The “talent recruitment efforts” mentioned above refer to the lack of talent joining Quantic Dream, likely due to a series of reports alleging that Quantic Dream was a hostile and toxic workplace, with allegations of homophobic and sexist behaviour. One of the alleged perpetrators of harassment is David Cage, who, according to the report, is “very much involved” in the development of Star Wars: Eclipse.

Eclipse has no launch date, and in fact, has not started production quite yet. As such, you can expect to see hints of this game’s release sometime around 2026.
