Dragon Age leaks have fans worried

New leaks for Dragon Age Dreadwolf have revealed a massive departure for the series, and not everyone is excited for it.

An alleged leak for the upcoming Dragon Age Dreadwolf has shown off some of the highly anticipated game’s combat, and not everyone is excited by what they’ve seen.

The leak comes courtesy of Reddit user Revanchisto, who claims that their friend is a playtester at Dragon Age developer BioWare. Revanchisto says that the tester gave them the footage, as well as some additional information about the game.

Unlike some other leakers, Revanchisto doesn’t have a history of posting leaks, and claims that they only did it this time because of something someone else said. While these leaks cannot be verified, the footage does bear some resemblance to the previous game in the series, Dragon Age Inquisition.

The leaker said that their friend told them that 2018’s God of War was a “guiding reference point” for Dreadwolf’s combat, with the new game being a hack and slash game. Previous games in the series featured turn-based strategy elements, and the ability to control party members, both of which appear to be gone from the leaked footage.

The leaker has also said that Dreadwolf fixes a longstanding issue with the series, its infamously bad hair, which has featured receding hairlines and flat-looking hairstyles in all prior games. More than two dozen comments on the Reddit post ignored the leaked combat altogether, instead focusing on the changes to the characters’ hair.

While some fans were excited by the new combat system, not everyone was pleased to see such a drastic change. “That’s not really Dragon Age for me,” one commenter said on games forum Resetera.

“It’s really disappointing to see Bioware give up on the squad mate control aspects of their games,” said another, “I probably just have to accept that their golden age is done”.

No official gameplay footage of Dreadwolf has been officially released by BioWare or its parent company EA. The new Dragon Age game did get a new teaser late last year, which unveiled key parts of the game’s plot and hinted at a deeper mystery.

The leaks come shortly after EA announced it had cancelled two mobile games, Apex Legends Mobile and the upcoming Battlefield mobile game. EA said that the reason for Apex Legends Mobile’s shutdown was because of increasingly poor quality in the game’s updates.
