An angry GameStop employee has dramatically quit their job over poor working conditions and pay, leaving an incredible note on the door announcing their departure.

A photo of the handwritten note was shared to the GameStop subreddit, showing the store closed and locked up, while the lights were seemingly still on in-store.

Customers discovered the note early in the morning, and posted the note online for others to see.

“GameStop overworks and underpays!” the note said, “They don’t care about their employees! I quit! Power to the players!”

The employee who apparently posted the note replied to the post on Reddit, explaining the situation. They said that while they were generally happy with working at the store, recent treatment by GameStop’s corporate branch had frustrated them.

The note was posted to the store’s front door, where it was photographed by a customer and shared on Reddit.

One of the reasons they list is the recent news of a GameStop manager who was fired over a $7000 PS5 robbery that took place in his store. The thieves threatened violence against the sole worker who was at the store at the time, and then stole 10 PS5 consoles.

The employee who quit worked at a different store, but said that they knew the manager who was fired over the robbery. They also said they didn’t want to quit right away, but had just worked an 11-hour day and got too frustrated to see the two weeks notice out.

“I wanted to work my last two weeks, I really did, But I had an 11 hour day today,” the now former employee said, “My manager is wonderful, I don’t even mind my district manager. I just got so mad at GameStop as a company.”

They continued: “I’ll miss my customers and manager, but that’s it. Power to the players”.

The replies to the comment were entirely supportive, with other current and former GameStop staff congratulating the employee for “getting out”. Others echoed the sentiment that GameStop didn’t care about its employees.

The employee said that they’d received an outpouring of support from other employees and customers, with one customer even texting them to say goodbye.

A similar employee walkout over bad working conditions happened in a GameStop store in Nebraska last year, with the employees at the time leaving a note explaining their reason for leaving. The note said that the district manager “[had] no respect for us as employees or as human beings”.
