Nick Kyrgios reveals his girlfriend as his secret weapon at US Open
Nick Kyrgios had some special words for his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi following his win against No. 1 one Daniil Medvedev.
Nick Kyrgios has credited his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi for his incredible form at the US Open following his fourth round win against World No. 1 Daniil Medvedev.
Kyrgios paid tribute to Hatzi following the showstopping match in New York on Sunday (local time) which saw him defeat the Russian powerhouse in four sets.
“I’m trying to work hard every day, make every session count. Before I would be out every night, now I have a great girlfriend, she helps me, she... you know.
“And my team, I’ve got my physio with me, Will. My team, it’s all my team and I’m just really happy and I’m hoping I can keep it going.
“I don’t want to let them down, I’ve been on the road for four months, we all have families we want to see, I want to make this count.”
The Aussie tennis bad boy has been dating the Sydney-based blogger and model since December, and has been by his side during what has arguably the best season of his career.
Kyrgios and Hatzi have been inseparable since they started dating, and the tennis star has even floated marriage and children.
Late last month, Kyrgios revealed they would be trying for their first child next year.
Responding to a question, “I love you when are we having babies”, Kyrgios said: “Next year”, along with ring and eyes emojis.
He’s also spoken about marriage to his 22-year-old partner.
Earlier this year, the 27-year-old revealed he had got a tattoo of Hatzi’s first name, written in flowing black cursive, on his leg.
During his recent run to the Wimbledon final, Kyrgios gushed over Hatzi, calling her “the best girlfriend in the world”.
Costeen has been an ever-present in his player’s box for the Australian Open doubles triumph as well as his impressive run to the Wimbledon final.
Kyrgios took the first set against Novak Djokovic on Centre Court before the Serbian maestro came fighting back to win 4-6 6-3 6-4 7-6 and claim a seventh Wimbledon crown.
And after the Aussie had reached his maiden Grand Slam final, the loved-up couple jetted off to the Bahamas for some well-earned downtime.
They enjoyed some time off in the Caribbean, playing with pigs and sharks and soaking up the sun before heading to the Atlanta Open.
Prior to the US Open starting, Kyrgios opened up about how much he was looking forward to playing doubles with close friend Thanasi Kokkinakis.
“I feel like I don’t do anything special to prepare for matches. Thanasi and myself know each other’s games pretty well … we practice all the time together. We play doubles. So I feel like we’re both prepared,” Kyrgios told tennis.com.au.

“And it’s just going to be an experience, for us to go out there and play on Arthur Ashe Stadium together is something that’s pretty special.
“There’s still two days until we have to play, so I’m not going to think about it too much. Because I know when we’re out there it’s going to be an emotional roller coaster.
“And it’s going to be a lot of fun – either way it’s something that I’m glad I get to share with him.”
