‘I’m obsessed’: Nick Kyrgios calls Costeen Hatzi the ‘best girlfriend in the world’
Nick Kyrgios has described his new partner Costeen Hatzi as “the best girlfriend in the world” and says he’s “obsessed” with her.
Nick Kyrgios says it’s easier for him to switch off from tennis and not get sucked into spending hours on his mobile phone after matches because he’s “obsessed” with his new girlfriend.
Speaking after his fourth round win against Brandon Nakashima, the Aussie tennis star described his partner Costeen Hatzi as “the best girlfriend in the world” while praising his team.
“I’ve got an incredible support crew,” Kyrgios said. “My physio is one of my best friends. My best friend is my
agent. I’ve got the best girlfriend in the world. I’ve just got so many people around me, they just support me.
“I feel like I can reflect on all those dark times when I pushed them all away. Now to sit here, quarterfinals of
Wimbledon, feeling good, feeling composed, feeling mature, having that around me, I’m extremely blessed. I
feel like I’m just comfortable in my own skin.”
Kyrgios said 22-year-old Hatzi – who has become a fixture at his matches – was the perfect touring partner because she helped him switch off after big matches.
“In the past when I’ve got this far in a grand slam – or I’ve played big matches – I haven’t been able to separate … I used to be on my phone a lot after matches like this,” he said.
“When you get a result like this it’s so easy to be attached to technology – seeing everyone’s opinions on the match or highlights, everything like that.
“But I feel like I’m really able to switch off from that. And that’s a big part of my growth. Obviously being obsessed with my girlfriend helps, but I’m just able to let that go and enjoy my dinner and wake up the next day and separate tennis and life.”
Kyrgios has hinted several times about his plans to marry Hatzi one day.
The Aussie tennis star and Instagram influencer had tongues wagging earlier this year following sightings of Hatzi sporting a diamond ring on her engagement finger.
Kyrgios also used a diamond ring emoji when thanking Hatzi in an Instagram post.
Kyrgios then told his followers the wedding will be happening “very soon”. The post included a “heart” emoji and a “diamond ring” emoji.
Kyrgios also commented on a photo Hatzi posted by writing: “I can’t wait to life with you”.
He also has Hatzi’s first name tattooed in black flowing cursive on his left leg.
He clearly likes the way things are right now with the Sydney-based influencer.
“Relationships are easy when both people are invested,” he told Stellar.
“It’s hard to move a couch on your own. I have had a couple past relationships that are brutal when you’re away from them for so long. It does affect you when you’re on the court.
“The luxury I have now in my career is that I’m able to provide for the person and if they want to travel with me they can.
“I’m in a very blessed situation that not many people are able to do. Hopefully everything works out but I don’t plan anything anymore.”
