King’s Troop was backed into favouritism on debut and showed natural speed in the very heavy track conditions to lead most of the way before being run down by the talented Japonisme. King’s Troop should be further improved with that race experience and looks perfectly placed here.

Race 6, No. 6

Strong debut run when minor placegetter at Canterbury on November 14, then spelled. Covered ground but still too good when winning over 1300m here on July 15. Will have been kept up to the mark by Chris Waller and has drawn a lovely gate in two. She can continue on her winning way here.

King’s Troop is no lavish price but is better than bank interest and should just get the chocolates. Scratched from Rosehill last Saturday to be saved for this.

Is a superbly bred Lonhro filly out of a Zeditave daughter of the former star two-year-old Midnight Fever. This filly is so good looking that she cost $840,000 as a yearling. The Team Snowden-trained filly has trialled four times and won two of them and was the eye-catcher in the others. Very smart and bound for better races this spring.

Lightly raced well bred mare improving with every start. Led throughout to win in good style last start at Moonee Valley in good fashion. Drawn to get a gun run again.

Caught the eye on debut at the Coast and then had absolutely no luck last time out at the same track. Should have won that day and he gets his chance from gate four here. He has already been $7.50-$5 as well.

Former Gai Waterhouse-trained galloper in the hands of Lloyd Kennewell and comes off a good trial at Murray Bridge recently. Drawn wide, which isn’t ideal, but should take some beating here having tackled much stronger races — including a placing in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes at Sandown behind Thurlow in February.
