Black Caviar puts Randwick on track for a special day

ROYAL Randwick tomorrow is a red-letter day. It is a compulsory race meeting to attend.

ROYAL Randwick tomorrow is a red-letter day. It is a compulsory race meeting to attend.

The marvellous new grandstand will be fully open for the first time. Everyone will love it.

The track itself seems perfect to me, and I've been a harsh critic. Importantly, there has been no irrigation, which can be a problem. It will, in spite of the rain, be close to "track good".

But, best of all, we have the best sprinter of all time, Black Caviar, attempting her 25th straight win in the TJ Smith, named after Dad.

How lucky Randwick is to have her, what a treat she is for every racegoer. She'll win easily and, I suspect, she'll be at much more backable odds than she's been for a long time because this is a great field.

OVERREACH

I can't describe how much pleasure Overreach's Golden Slipper win ave me. It simply makes everything worthwhile.

What a star she is. Had the track at Rosehill been firm, Overreach would have won by a greater length.

I was particularly delighted for George Altomonte. A loyal owner, great breeder and great man.

George named her Overreach because, when she walks, her back legs "reach" in advance of where her front legs have just been. This is a very positive sign, indicating her stride is long. George "knew" from the start.

Punters must back her in tomorrow's Sire Produce. Some might ask: will the extra 200m be an issue? It won't.

She is the dominant two-year-old this season and she'll win easily.

JULIENAS

Julienas is my Sydney Cup hope and he meets, in practical terms, that field in tomorrow's Chairman's Handicap.

He is a class racehorse, having won the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot, with a big weight and leading all the way. He will be too strong for his rivals tomorrow, with his long stride.

Punters, make sure you're on him.
