Popular UK TV presenter Maya Jama has reportedly split from her fiance, basketballer Ben Simmons, after a year of dating.

Maya Jama has split from her fiance basketball player Ben Simmons after a year of dating.

The Sun reports the TV presenter, 27, called off the engagement with Australian sports star, 26, last month.

It comes after he popped the question in December and she has frequently travelled back and forth to America, where he plays basketball for the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Maya called it off the engagement after things came to a head last month.

“She is not going back to New York now. It’s heartbreaking for both of them, especially as they were so committed to each other.

“They’re both young and want to focus on their careers.

“Maya has a bright future ahead of her with job offers coming in all over the world and is feeling positive.

“She has been hitting the gym a lot and spending time with her good friends.”

In January, Jama was spotted wearing a diamond engagement ring said to have a value north of US$800,000 (AUD$1.1million).

Jama, who previously dated Brit rapper Stormzy, 29, has been pictured with and without her engagement ring this week.

She currently presents on the UK music competition series Walk the Line.

Simmons and Jama went public with their relationship mid-last year when they attended Wimbledon together and cosied up in the crowd.

Simmons previously dated Kendall Jenner, but they split in May 2019.

The 26-year-old was traded to the Nets midway through last season but hasn’t played an NBA game since he bombed out of the 2021 playoffs with the Philadelphia 76ers.
