Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced the new scheme which is very similar to last year's JobKeeper program.
"We will be further increasing the levels of support provided to individuals through the COVID disaster payment right across the state of New South Wales. We will be increasing from next week the maximum payment of $600 to $750 and we will be increasing the payment for less than 20 hours from $375 to $450," he said.
"In addition to that, we will be extending support to those who are on welfare payments and they will be able to receive a payment if they have lost more than eight hours of $200."
He added, this would be a more targeted approach than previous measures.
"What we are doing now is faster, it is more effective, it is more targeted, it is getting help where it is needed, far more quickly," he said.
"We are not dealing with a pandemic outbreak across the whole country. When we did JobKeeper, we had to employ it across the whole country. All at once."

“Today’s changes to JobSaver are desperately needed as many hotels were ineligible for support under the earlier scheme,” he Whelan said.
“All hoteliers are really struggling to keep their businesses – and the livelihoods of their thousands of staff – afloat and this will help many,” Mr Whelan said.
