Live Breaking News: Biggest ‘slap in the face’ to Victorians
The lax fine issued to a removalist who brought Covid to Victoria has been described as a slap in the face.
There are steeper fines for public urination or parking in a disabled spot than bringing a deadly virus to your state and plunging Victoria into lockdown.
The $200 fine issued to a removalist, who was a member of a crew which brought the Delta strain to Victoria, was blasted by the state opposition
“The Andrews government are all talk and no action when they said the book would be thrown at them,” Opposition police spokesman David Southwick said.
“What a slap in the face to all Victorians that Sydney removalists won’t be fined or charged after causing the lockdown and refusing to cooperate with authorities.”
The fine for public urination is $500 in Victoria while you would be charged $568 for parking in a disabled space.
Earlier today Covid-19 Commander Jeroen Weimar said one of the removalists would be issued a $200 fine.
It comes as Victoria leave their lockdown at midnight.
