Victoria Police arrest man after fatal Southbank stabbing
Police have laid a murder charge after a man was found in a Melbourne apartment complex with stab wounds.
Police have charged a man with murder after another man died from stab wounds at a Melbourne apartment building on Saturday morning.
Emergency officials were called to the apartment complex on Sturt Street in Southbank shortly after midnight and told a man had been injured.
Paramedics treated him at the scene but his life could not be saved.
Police arrested a 29-year-old man from the rural township of Toolangi and he was charged with murder later on Saturday.
The suspect was detained and was given a court date at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on October 1.
The dead man has not yet been identified. As of Saturday morning, police had not determined “the exact circumstances surrounding the incident”, a statement said.
Detectives are not looking for anyone else in relation to the stabbing.
