Shocking footage has emerged of the moment a woman was allegedly punched and chased during an attempted carjacking at a car wash.
A man has been arrested after shocking footage emerged of the moment a woman was allegedly assaulted during an attempted carjacking in Melbourne’s southeast.
A 24-year-old man allegedly threatened several people on the corner of Cranbourne Rd and Lindrum Rd in Frankston about 11am.
He then allegedly approached a woman vacuuming her car at the corner and demanded her keys.
Footage shows the woman run away from the car before the man throws a punch and chases her across the pavement, cornering her as she tries to get back to her vehicle.
As a passer-by steps in to assist the woman, and the man leaves the scene.
The woman was not seriously injured during the alleged altercation.
Police allege the same man entered a shop and assaulted another woman, also demanding her car keys.
The second woman was treated for minor injuries.
Dramatic footage shows the man being arrested at a bus stop a short while later, surrounded by officers as they hold him down on the corner of the footpath.
The man has been charged with three counts of attempted carjacking, two counts of reckless cause injury aggravated assault of a female, unlawful assault and resist arrest.
He was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.
